Defender Joe Addo has been removed from the MetroStars preseason roster and apparently is going to retire. In two seasons with Metro, Addo played in 25 games, started 18, and tallied one assist. His role was significantly reduced in 2003.

Addo's departure leaves Mark Lisi and Craig Ziadie as the lone holdovers from the Octavio Zambrano era.
